pH Meter is an electronic device which is used to check the pH of the solution.

pH (Potential of Hydrogen):

pH is the scale or unit which is used to measure the acidity or alkalinity of the water-based solutions. The range of pH scale is 0 to 14; if the value of pH is less than 7 then the solution will be acidic. And if it is Higher, then the solution will be basic and 7 would be neutral.

Potential of Hydrogen is the full form of pH, which shows that the pH value of the solution is depend on the concentration of Hydrogen ion in the solution.

If the Hydrogen ion (H+) concentration will be higher than pH will lower than 7

And If the Hydrogen ion (H+) concentration will be lower than pH will be higher than 7

There are so many ways to check the pH value of the solution, Digital pH meter is one of them but it is not the only way. There are also pH strips, pH comparator are available in the market by which you can measure the pH of the solution.

But except Digital pH meter no any other way will show you the exact number of the pH value of the solution. So if you want Quantitative Value of the solution the pH Meter is the only and best way.

Digital pH Meter:

As we said it is an electronic device which measure the pH of the water based solution with the help of pH electrode.

pH Electrode:

pH electrode is an electrode which is sensitive to hydrogen ions. In the pH Electrode there is also a reference electrode, which help to check the difference of Electrical Potential between both electrodes. There are different types of pH electrodes are available in the market with different accuracy. In many pH Meter you can also measure the ORP (oxidation reduction Potential) of the solution. The pH Electrode measure the difference in electrical potential or ORP between the electrodes.
